There are plenty of exciting events coming up in the model railway world this Autumn – here’s a few to put into your calendar.
8th – 9th October
59th Model Railway & Transport Exhibition
Furness Model Railway Club are hosting their 59th Model Railway & Transport exhibition next weekend, with some great layouts already announced, including Swisspass Ho / Hom, the club’s largest Swiss layout with loads of standard and metre gauge trains and the club’s Thomas OO self drive where younger visitors can try their hand at driving the trains.
There will also be traders, displays, a tombola, and a club sales stand. It sounds to be a great weekend, and with tickets £7 for adults, £5 for senior citizens and £3 for children, it’s well worth popping over if you’re in the area!

9th October
Small Trains Day at East Anglian Railway Museum
Braintree and Halstead Model Railway Club will be in attendance with a Model Railway Display featuring: club layouts, visiting layouts, N, OO and O Gauge models, and trade stands.
Plus, the museum’s miniature railway will be in operation, as will their Freight Train, with unlimited rides all day.

15th – 16th October
Wirksworth Model Railway Exhibition
Spread across three venues across the historic town centre of Wirksworth, there will be specialist trade stalls, DVDs and books, and refreshments, plus a Model Railway coach at Wirksworth station.
A whole host of expected layouts have been announced, including Ashbrook Dale Two OO gauge, Hornby Dublo OO gauge, Ferrers Junction N gauge, Thomas and Friends OO – 16.5 gauge and many more.
Tickets cost £6 for adults, £5 for children and concessions, or get a family ticket (2 adults and 2 children) for just £15.

29th – 30th October
Great British Model Railway Show
The Great British Model Railway Show is back at the British Motor Museum this October. One of the largest railway shows on the calendar, this is a great event to see all kinds of model railway layout and specialist traders, and to pick up something for your own model railway – whether that’s a purchase or just inspiration!
Plus, a ticket to the show also gets you entry to the British Motor Museum, which houses over 400 historic British cars.
It’s best to book your tickets in advance and save money – day tickets are £14.50 for adults, £9 for children, £12.50 concession or £40 for a family when you book online.

5th – 6th November
Spalding Model Railway Exhibition
The Spalding Model Railway Exhibition will be back in Lincolnshire this November. With quality layouts, traders such as Hornby and Bachmann, and demonstrators including Tony Wright, Spalding Model Club Weathering, Waveney O Gauge and Howard Leader, it’s shaping up to be a great weekend!
Adult tickets cost £10 and accompanied under 16s go free!
