Step back to 1956 with our latest tramways book!

We are delighted to announce the release of The Tramways of Glasgow 1956 by Henry Conn – the latest addition to our acclaimed series celebrating the wonderful views of David and John Clarke.

In 1956, a decision was made to reduce and eventually abandon the city’s entire tram system. With the exception of a few routes, services were cut back to the city boundary, ending long-standing inter-urban connections to Barrhead, Paisley, Renfrew, Milngavie, Coatbridge, and Airdrie.

This new book is the fourth in a series featuring the breathtaking, never-before-seen photographs of David and John Clarke, captured during their visit to Glasgow in the summer of 1956. For the first time, a significant number of John Clarke’s images are showcased alongside David’s, documenting the network’s final days in stunning chronological order.
